GSP Offshore buys jack-up rig from Transocean

Romanian GSP Offshore has expanded its fleet if offshore drilling units with the acquisition of the GSP Magellan jack-up rig.

The rig, acquired from Transocean for an undisclosed price, is an ABS classed Friede & Goldman L-780 Mod V drilling rig with three legs.

GSP Magellan, built in 1992, can operate in water depths up to 350 feet. The drilling rigĀ can accommodate a crew of 116 persons.

GSP Magellan is the second drilling rigĀ entering the GSP fleet in 2014. The company currently operates in the Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea, North Sea, the Arctic and the Gulf of Mexico.
