GTT said in its statement on Wednesday it has been contracted to provide equipment for eight liquefied natural gas carrier newbuilds.

The vessels will be built by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI), with each vessel capable of transporting 174,000 cubic meters of the chilled fuel, featuring Mark III Flex technology.

HHI is set to build four vessels, two on behalf on an Asian ship-owner and two on behalf of a European ship-owner. The other four LNGCs will be built by HSHI on behalf of another European ship-owner.

The deliveries of the vessels are scheduled for the second half of 2022, the statement reads.

Commenting on the orders, Philippe Berterottière, chairman and CEO of GTT, noted that this brings the number of LNGC orders obtained in 2019 to 57, which is a record year for GTT.
