Guyana-Based Zhonghao Launches First Logging Vessel

Zhonghao Shipyard, the first Chinese-owned ship-building company in Guyana, held a naming and launching ceremony for its first logging vessel “Yuanheng Freighter” on February 28.

His Excellency Zhang Limin, Chinese Ambassador to Guyana, President of Guyana Donald Rrmotar, Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, Minister of Agriculture Leslie Ramsammy, Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee attended the ceremony.

In his remarks, Ambassador Zhang commended the business cooperation between China and Guyana, which is expanding and deepening, along with the investment in the ship-building and other sectors by the Chinese company which are contributing to the social and economic development of Guyana.

President Ramotar said that the investment of Zhonghao Shipyard in the ship-building sector will lower the cost of living and transportation, enhance the production capacity, promote the development of transportation and infrastructure and revitalize the ship-building industry of Guyana. The partnership between China and Guyana is key to spurring Guyana to its fullest economic height, he added.

At the end of the ceremony, Ambassador Zhang and President Ramotar cut the ribbon for the launching of the vessel.
