Hanjin San Diego Dodges Grounding

German-flagged container ship Hanjin San Diego has regained power having almost run aground after losing power on Tuesday due to an engine failure.

The 4,545 TEU ship lost power early Tuesday morning, leaving it disabled near Bald Head Island, North Carolina where it managed to anchor soon after, according to the US Coast Guard.

As informed, the ship was towed to deeper waters where the crew managed to repair the engine and resume its voyage having received clearance from the local authorities.

There were no injuries reported.

The cargo ship headed for the Port of Wilmington where it arrived a few hours past its schedule.

Based on the latest vessel tracking data from Marine Traffic the vessel is currently under way using its own engine, its destination being Savannah, USA.
