Havyard: Icebreaker Aleut on its way to Norway

Havyard has informed that Aleut, a newbuild icebreaking vessel launched on May 16, 2015 at Cemre Shipyard in Turkey, today started its long journey to Norway.

Havyard reported that the icebreaker is expected to arrive to Leirvik on June 19, 2015.

The Havyard 843 Ice vessel was ordered from Havyard in 2013 by the Russian shipping company FEMCO. It is due to be delivered in September 2015. In 2014, the Russian company ordered two more vessels of the same design from Havyard.

Amongst other things, the vessel can break ice that is more than 1 metre thick and has systems for avoiding icing of the vessel. The vessel is otherwise designed to carry out anchor handling, towing and standby operations for oil protection and rescue services.
