Helix’s New Well Intervention Vessel Goes on Sea Trials

Helix Energy Solutions’ newest DP3 well intervention vessel, Q7000, will start sea trials this week.

According to the company’s social media update, the sea trials will take place in the South China Sea.

The new well intervention vessel, being built at Jurong Shipyard, a subsidiary of Sembcorp Marine, is planned to be delivered to Helix in December 2017, following a delay in delivery in July this year.

The semi-submersible well intervention vessel is based on a design jointly developed by Sembcorp Marine and Helix.

The Q7000 is capable of performing conventional and extended top hole drilling, subsea construction, decommissioning well intervention, coiled tubing operations and twin ROV deployment.
