Hispania Spirit heads from Peru to Mexico

Peru’s only LNG export facility in Pampa Melchorita has recently dispatched another cargo to Mexico.

According to the information revealed by state-owned Perupetro, Teekay’s 145,500 cbm LNG carrier Hispania Spirit loaded on September 30 and set sail for Mexico.

The vessel is back in service after recent events in the Peruvian port of Pisco. Peruvian coast guard raided the vessel on September 8 after suspicious activities were reported to find 211 kilograms of cocaine in the LNG ship’s rudder trunk space with a Venezuelan citizen who was not a crew member.

In a recent response to LNG World News, Teekay spokesman Jonathan Anthony said the vessel remained in the vicinity of the port to assist the local authorities in a full investigation of the incident supported by Teekay shore operations.

Hispania Spirit is the 286th vessel dispatched from the Peruvian LNG export facility since it started operations in June 2010 and is probably on its way to the Manzanillo LNG terminal.
