New Cruise Terminal in Southampton

The new terminal designed by The Manser Practice for Associated British Ports is 90,000sq ft terminal building servicing 4,000 passenger cruise ships and almost 2,000 crew. The terminal building (which at 260m long, including drop off canopy, is still dwarfed by the ship) is designed to refer an economic but stylish simple transfer point from land to water whilst providing all the customs, immigration and security controls.

The curved steel frame ribs are clad in silver profiled aluminum with a semi-translucent east elevation looking out onto the ship. Accommodation is on two floors, departures on first and baggage on the ground, and the first floor interior is lit with a series of tubular roof lights along the length of the building.
