USA: Indiana Harbor Dredging to Start Next Year

Dredging of the Indiana Harbor and Ship Canal is scheduled to begin next year, and residents can find out more about the 30-year, $150 million project Wednesday night at City Hall. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to remove some 4.6 million cubic yards of contaminated sediment from the harbor and canal, and permanently store the material in a confined disposal facility being built along Indianapolis Boulevard at Riley Road.
