Saginaw River dredging to start after judge rejects challenge

SAGINAW, Mich. Dredging is set to begin Monday to ease shipping on the Saginaw River.

The river has been hampered by a buildup of muck. A federal judge last month declined to block the Army Corps of Engineers from dredging over concerns about toxic dioxins in the silt.

The judge ruled the project wouldn’t harm people or the environment.
