Good progress on Skarv FPSO

Engineering work carried out on the hull of the Skarv FPSO at the Samsung Heavy Industries yard in South Korea is “excellent”, an inspection performed by Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) has revealed.

The PSA said it had carried out the audit to verify that BP Norge’s engineering of the Skarv facility complies with the regulatory requirements for offshore Norway.

The PSA said in a statement: “Our general impression is that thorough and excellent work has been performed so far in engineering the Skarv hull.”

Special emphasis was placed on safety strategies and design loads, fire-fighting, passive fire protection, safety instrumented systems with special focus on fire and gas detection and the design of rooms for electrical equipment.
