NNPC Asks Total to Begin Work On Akpo Field

In a desperate bid to achieve at least four million barrels daily production capacity by year 2006, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has given nod to Total’s request to begin developing the 225,000 barrels per day Akpo field. Located on the Oil Mining Licence (OML) 130, also in the offshore, was discovered in 2000 with NNPC as a majority shareholding of 50 per cent along sides with Total 24 per cent, petrobras, and sapetro.
