Increasing pressure for Hellenic-owned fleet’s leading role seen in the future

A recent research from National Bank of Greece (NBG) on the shipping industry highlighted the country’s leading role in global sea transportation, although Hellenic ship owners are now coming face to face with never seen before challenges. According to the report, the nation merchant fleet remains the largest in the world, representing 15% of the global fleet in terms of capacity, despite large competition from other countries, mainly those in the Far East.
