Ocean Liners Offer More Secure Trip Than Cruise Ships

A 70-foot wave that slammed into a New York based megaliner not only shattered some glass and the confidence of some passengers, but it also pointed up the differences between ocean liners and cruise ships. Seas were rough for at least 11 hours before a seven story wave suddenly slammed into the bow of the Norwegian Dawn on its way back to New York at the end of a seven-day cruise to the Bahamas. In a statement, Norwegian Cruise Line said even the captain was taken by surprise.
