IADC: Dredging and Its Drivers (The Netherlands)

IADC Dredging and Its Drivers (The Netherlands)

According to the just-released Dredging in Figures, the drivers of dredging have developed favourably, though moderately, over the last decade, but in the dredging industry itself, the total turnover has more than doubled.

Why has the dredging industry grown faster than its drivers?

Dredging in Figures is an annual statistical review of the global dredging market published by the International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) as a service to all parties interested in the financial development of the dredging industry. Through charts and data collected from well-respected, international sources as well as from its own member companies, the IADC tries to answer questions and give insight into the economic status and underlying importance of the industry to the world economy.

The present document, issued in November 2012, focusses on the situation in 2011.

The information includes data about the “drivers of dredging” – waterborne trade, urbanisation and demography, energy, tourism, climate change and coastal defence and the environment – as well as the turnover of the global dredging market per region and per driver, and in terms of open and closed markets, and the types of projects where dredging plays a major role.
