Icon Offshore CEO leaving. New Managing Director elected

Malaysia’s Offshore Support Vessel provider (OSV) Icon Offshore has seen several changes to its Board, among which is the resignation of its CEO and naming of a new managing director to the company.

The company announced on Monday that Dr Jamal bin Yusof has left the position of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The reason for that, the company said, was the expiration of his appointment.

During his career, he has held many executive position, including the one of managing director of Sisma Enterprise Sdn Bhd from 1997 to 2005, where he was responsible for the provision of electrical engineering and OSV services.

In 2006, he ventured further into the oil and gas industry by founding Omni Power Sdn Bhd (Omni). He stayed at Omni as the Managing Director until 2012, after which he assumed the position as Icon’s Chief Executive Officer.

New managing director

Also on Monday, the company said that Amir Hamzah bin Azizan has been appointed as Managing Director to the company.

Bin Azizan is currently the CEO of Petronas Lubricants International (PLI) and Vice President, Lubricants Business at Petronas. He also sits on the board of South Africa’s Engen Petroleum.

From 2011 to 2013, he served as the CEO of Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB). He later went on to become the CEO of Malaysia International Shipping Corporation Berhad (MISC).

Ekuinas’ CEO becomes executive director

In addition, Icon has redesignated Dato’ Abdul Rahman bin Ahmad from a non-executive director to an executive director.

Bin Ahmad began his career in 1992, at Arthur Andersen, London, UK, as an Assistant Manager. During his career, he has held executive positions in several international companies. He joined Ekuinas in 2009 as Executive Director and CEO, where he leads its Management Committee and is a member of its Investment Committee.

Ekuinas is the single largest shareholder in Icon Offshore Berhad.
