IGAT-9, gateway to future gas exports to Europe

The construction of Iran Gas Trunkline-9 (IGAT-9) will improve gas delivery in the west of the country and facilitate future gas exports to European countries, managing director of Iran Gas Engineering and Development Company (IGEDC) said.

Alireza Gharibi said the 1,800-kilometer pipeline is being stretched from Assaluyeh in southern Iran to western and northwestern provinces.

“With the completion of IGAT-9, the country’s total gas transfer capacity will be increased by 110 million cubic meters,” he said, adding that the trunkline has 17 pressure booster stations.

National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) plans to invest 8.5 billion dollars into the project with the design expected to be done in two months.
