Image of the Day: Odessa Makes Way for a BehemothOdessa seaport Authority moored the 300-meter long CMA CGM Danube container ship for the first time on August 14, 2014.

The Danube was carrying 1,027 containers on entrance to the port, and 1,307 containers were intended for loading.

As noted by Odessa seaport Authority, in order to accept such a class of container ship, the representatives of the stevedoring companies and divisions of the port carried out a number of relevant preparatory technical and organizational measures.

New container ship CMA CGM Danube (capacity of 9400 TEU) made its maiden voyage on June 30, 2014 from China, under a bareboat charter for CIMC.

This container ship is the first in a series of 28 vessels with a capacity of 9,400 TEU, built for the French shipping line company DSIC in the Dalian shipyard in China. The remaining ships will be transferred to the owner by the third quarter of 2016.
