Quantum of the Seas Squeezing Her Way to the Ocean

New Quantum of the Seas, Royal Caribbean International’s cruiser, has left the shipyard in Germany and is sailing backward up the Ems River on a 10-hour journey to the North Sea.

She has been under construction for 17 months at Meyer Werft, in Papenburg, which is 20 miles inland.

Quantum of the Seas is 135 feet wide and is passing through a gateway between the yard’s construction basin and the river with only inches to spare.
