Cochin Shipyard Names New Director of Operations

Capt R S Sundar, Indian Navy (Retd) has assumed the duties of Director (Operations) of Cochin Shipyard Ltd., Kochi on 21 Nov 2011. In a professional career spanning over three decades, Caption R S Sunder has held various important appointments in the Indian Navy.

Prior to joining Cochin Shipyard Ltd. Caption R S Sunder was the Project Director, Project. 17 Ships (Stealth Frigates) at the Mazagon Dock Ltd, Mumbai and led the team to deliver two ships INS Shivalik and INS Satpura to the Indian Navy.

Cochin Shipyard, incorporated in the year 1972 as a fully owned Government of India company, in the last three decades has emerged as a forerunner in the Indian Shipbuilding & Shiprepair industry. This yard can build and repair the largest vessels in India. It can build ships up to 1,10,000 DWT and repair ships up to 1,25,000 DWT. The yard has delivered two of India’s largest double hull Aframax tankers each of 95,000 DWT . CSL has secured shipbuilding orders from internationally renowned companies from Europe & Middle East and is nominated to build the country’s first indigenous Air Defense Ship.
