Cochin Shipyard Wins Safety Certificate

Cochin Shipyard was awarded the certificate of excellence by the Department of Factories and Boilers, Government of Kerala, for outstanding performance in Industrial Safety in the category of Very Large Factories – Engineering (employing more than 500 workers).

The award was presented by the Honorable Minister for Labour and Rehabilitation, Govt. of Kerala Shri Shibhu Baby John to Shri N V Suresh Babu, General Manger (Ship Repair), Cochin Shipyard Ltd on 13 Mar 2013 in the presence of K. Muraleedharan, MLA. Shri A L Jackson, Chief Safety Officer and AGM, Cochin Shipyard received the first prize for individual safety officer category.

Cochin Shipyard has been receiving awards for its exemplary performance in industrial safety for the last three consecutive years. The yard was the first shipyard in India to have implemented the integrated management system consisting of ISO 9001 : 2008 (Quality Management systems), ISO 14001 : 2004 (Environmental Management systems) and OHSAS 18001 : 2007 – (Occupational Health and Safety Management systems).
