ONGC, Gazprom Plan Joint LNG Projects

India’s ONGC is in negotitations with Russian Gazprom to jointly develop projects to produce liquefied natural gas, India’s oil ministry said in a statement.

Shri S Jaipal Reddy, India’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Mr Sergey Shmatko, Russian Minister of Energy met at a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of 20th World Petroleum Congress at Doha today. The meeting was also attended by officals from Petronet LNG and ONGC.

The statement also said that Petronet LNG will soon finalize the agreement for sourcing LNG from Russia under the pact signed with Gazprom.

The deal for supply of about 2.5 million tones of LNG was signed recently in Singapore.
