Industrial action on Curtis Island LNG project continues

Protected industrial action by CFMEU members against Bechtel has moved into day two as the union voices its support of negotiations for a fair enterprise agreement on the Curtis Island LNG project.

As reported by the local media, the union members are protesting against the three weeks on and one week off roster, among other things, claiming it is not about the money, but about the increased pressure on workers’ family relations.

Bechtel’s two previous offers were rejected by the workforce and the company now refuses to continue negotiations on the subject.

Local sources reported that on day two protesters peacefully stood by the side of the road at Port Central, Gladstone waving flags, after a much heated day one saw blocked traffic and delay across town.
