'Innovation' Starts Westermost Rough OWF Work

Innovation, a heavy-lift jack-up vessel owned by HGO InfraSea Solutions, has been working at the UK’s Westermost Rough offshore wind farm as of January 2014, the owner informed on its official website.

For this project, the Innovation is managed by GeoSea, which holds 50% shares in HGO. The contract, signed last year between GeoSea and DONG Energy, includes transport and installation of 35 monopile foundations and transition pieces (TPs) at the Westermost Rough wind farm’s site.

The latest Innovation‘s operation was at the Global Tech I offshore wind farm in the German North Sea, where the vessel installed tripod foundations.

Two days ago, the vessel called at Aalborg Harbour for its first transport of foundations for Westermost Rough.

The wind farm will feature 35 Siemens’ 6MW turbines, and it is expected to be fully commissioned in the first half of 2015. It will be able to supply clean power corresponding to the annual power consumption of almost 210,000 British households.
