INPEX Hires Discoverer Seven Seas Drillship for Work in Indonesia

Transocean, one of the world’s largest offshore drilling contractors, announced yesterday it has secured a new contract for one of its drillships.

The drillship, Discoverer Seven Seas, a self-propelled dynamically positioned vessel capable of operating in water depths up to 6,500 ft (upgradeable to 7,000 ft) , has been awarded a three-well contract for work offshore Indonesia by the Japanese oil and gas company, INPEX.

According to information in Trans0cean’s fleet status report, the dayrate for the contract has been set at  $500,000 ($90 million contract backlog). The vessel will be on contract with INPEX from May to December 2013.
