Inpex mulls 3rd LNG tank at Naoetsu terminal

Inpex Mulls 3rd LNG tank at Naoetsu Import Terminal

Inpex of Japan plans to construct a third LNG storage tank at its new Naoetsu LNG terminal in Niigata.

The import capacity of the terminal could rise to 2.7 million mt/year from current 1.5 million mt/year, Platts cited an unnamed official at Inpex as saying.

However, nothing is yet decided and any expansion might depend on future demand.

The terminal will receive LNG mainly from the Ichthys project in northern Australia, where first production is expected by the end of 2016.
