Inpex ships Ichthys LNG condensate from onshore plant

Inpex-operated Ichthys LNG project has started shipping condensate (ultra-light crude oil) produced at the onshore gas liquefaction plant in Darwin in Australia’s Northern Territory.

Plant condensate is produced as part of the onshore plant-based process of liquefying the natural gas lifted from the Ichthys field and transported to Darwin through the gas export pipeline.

Plant condensate makes up approximately 15 percent of all the condensate produced through the project and is scheduled to be shipped at regular intervals going forward.

The first plant condensate shipment is destined to an Asian customer, Inpex said in a statement on Wednesday noting the cargo will be delivered aboard the Challenge Peak tanker.

To remind, the project started shipping condensate from offshore production facilities on October 1, 2018, followed by liquefied natural gas on October 22, 2018, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) on November 16, 2018.

Once peak production is reached, the Ichthys LNG project will be producing approximately 8.9 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and approximately 1.65 million tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per year, along with approximately 100,000 barrels of condensate per day.
