The project started gas production from its gas wells at the end of July, and Inpex maintained it expects to begin the shipment of products towards the end of the first half of the current fiscal year in September.

Speaking at a briefing following the unveiling of the company’s first-quarter earnings, Inpex senior managing executive officer Masahiro Murayama said the shipment of condensate, LNG and LPG will start in sequence in a two or three month period following the gas production start, Reuters reports.

He noted the start of shipments is likely around October 1, with LPG shipments, the last in the order to begin before end-December.

The Ichthys LNG project is expected to produce up to 8.9 million tonnes of LNG and 1.6 million tons of LPG at peak annually, with up to 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak, which could take up to three years to reach.

The project is a joint venture between Inpex, major partner Total, Taiwan’s CPC Corporation and the Australian subsidiaries of Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Kansai Electric, Chubu Electric Power and Toho Gas.
