InterDam’s G21 FirePanel Passes H120 Tests

In April 2014, InterDam’s next-generation G21 FirePanel successfully completed H120 tests. During the DNV GL- and Lloyd’s-Register-approved test, the G21 FirePanels maintained their fire resistance, structural integrity and insulation for over 180 minutes at hydrocarbon-fire-curve temperatures.

Weight-saving

The modular, cost-effective G21 FirePanel technology offers major advantages over the traditional fire resistant panels, including an easy 50% reduction in weight. Once the substructure is in place, a three-man crew can install 2,000 ft2 (185 m²) of external wall panels in just one day using highly efficient drill-and-rivet installation.

Pool fire grade

The G21 FirePanel meets all requirements for internal and external heavy-duty walls for on- and offshore applications. InterDam has applied special adhesives and a binder resin to integrate a specially formulated mineral wool in the sandwich panel. The easy-to-install male–female connections were optimised successfully to cope with the fearsome H-rated fire curve.

Rapid adoption

Ilse van Houselt, marketing manager, InterDam, says, “We introduced our next-generation G21 FirePanel with fire rating A60 at the Offshore Technology Conference in 2011. In our industry, there is often conservative resistance to adopting new technologies or a lack of awareness of the benefits that they can offer. Yet, to date more than 500,000 ft2 (46,000 m²) of G21 FirePanels have already been installed worldwide and many more projects are being planned.”

With today’s global introduction of the H-rated G21 FirePanel, InterDam offers the oil and gas industry the same easy-to-install, light-weight, cost-effective solution for all fire-rated walls.

InterDam will be showcasing at the largest offshore energy exhibition in the world: the OTC in Houston, booth 2531 at the Dutch Pavilion.
