Intertek Invests into Trinidad and Tobago Office Expansion

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety services to a wide range of industries around the world, has expanded its facilities, capabilities and expertise to better serve the growing demand for technical services and expertise supporting the oil & gas industry in Trinidad and Tobago.

Intertek’s newest investment in Trinidad includes an expanded office and new laboratory in San Fernando (Marabella). The new facility provides important cargo inspection and coordination services, laboratory testing, and other services to customers via one central location. The building is designed to allow for future expansion requirements, and accommodates personnel from Intertek’s Commodities and Industrial & Assurance divisions, along with regional IT support.

Trinidad is a large oil & gas producer in the Caribbean region, with significant reserves and production of crude oil and natural gas. As a result, Trinidad is a major exporter of refined petroleum products including fuels, petrochemicals, asphalt, liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and other hydrocarbon commodities. Additional bulk cargos inspected and tested in Trinidad by Intertek include minerals and agricultural products. For nearly two decades, Intertek has provided cargo inspection and quality testing services to domestic and international clients in Trinidad.

The Intertek Trinidad operation performs a regional coordination role for cargo inspection and testing in Jamaica, Antigua, St. Lucia, Barbados, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Suriname, and Guyana. In addition, Intertek’s Technical Staffing Services (TSS) personnel provide staffing solutions for major oil & gas projects in Trinidad. Placements include production chemists, engineers, project managers, client authorized representatives, and other technical and professional positions.

Victor Pouchet, Regional Manager for the Caribbean and Central America, said, “Trinidad and Tobago is an important market for Intertek in the region. We are committed to investing further to grow and develop technical services in Trinidad to support our clients.”
