Intertek supports CLOV FPSO ops (Angola)

Intertek is providing testing, inspection, and measuring services to support the development and production of the new CLOV (Cravo, Lirio, Orquidea and Violeta fields) floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) terminal, off Angola.

Intertek supports CLOV FPSO ops (Angola)

The CLOV operation is located 150 kilometres offshore Angola, in deep-water depths of 1,200 meters.

The CLOV fields are part of one of the world’s most prodigious offshore oil reservoirs, located in deep-water Block-17 off northern Angola. The area has four major production hubs: Girassol, Dalia, Pazflor and CLOV. Together, these offshore deep-water reservoirs have an estimated proven and probable oil reserves volume of over 500 million barrels. Receiving the new crude oil cargos in ocean-going tankers, Intertek cargo surveying customers are located across the world.

Dave Ruddin, Regional Business Line Leader for Intertek’s Cargo Services business in Southern Africa, said: “We are proud to be involved in supporting operations at the new CLOV exploration and production facility. Intertek handled cargo inspection and testing for the very first crude oil cargo loading from the new FPSO. We also handled the very first loading from the nearby Dalia and Pazflor FPSO, which indicates our client has confidence in the Angolan Intertek team’s ability take on new challenges. We continue to handle crude oil tanker loadings to support our offshore Angola customers.”

Along with crude oil production cargo inspection, Intertek provided the flow measurement services (“meter prover calibrations”) for the 36” crude oil fiscal metering system, onboard FPSO CLOV. Similar services have also been provided to the Dalia, Girassol and Pazflor FPSO platforms. Flow measurement calibrations help to ensure accurate and reliable production volumes are recorded.
