Iran: Ahmadinejad Hopes Gas Pipeline Will Reach Pakistan Border by 2012 End

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad during a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardari has expressed hope that the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline will reach the border by the end of 2012.

According to the report of the public relations of the NIGC, Ahmadinejad expressed Iran’s readiness for expansion of bilateral cooperation in the fields of agriculture, industry and energy, adding that increasing exchange between the two countries will cause expansion of ties more than ever.

He also underlined that agreements between Tehran and Islamabad should be operational and that economic exchanges should increase to more than one billion dollars.

He went on to say that, the executive operation of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline is underway and it will reach the border by the end of year 2012.

During the meeting, Pakistan’s President invited President Ahmadinejad to pay an official visit to Pakistan.
