Iran holds talks with neighbors, gas exports nearing

Iran has held talks with the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman for sales of natural gas, managing director of the National Iranian Gas Exports Company Ali Reza Kameli said, adding exports to neighboring Iraq will begin soon.

“We are laying the necessary groundwork for gas exports to these countries,” Kameli said.

Kameli further noted that NIGEC held talks with 170 foreign companies last calendar year for gas exports.

He said since Iran is rich in gas resources, gas exports, as part of the international energy network, play an important role from the viewpoint of economy, politics and international affairs.

Based on Oil Ministry policies, Iran’s priority for gas exports are neighbors, he added.
