Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline to move forward

Iran’s petroleum minister has told a parliamentary committee that Iran’s gas pipeline project with Pakistan will go ahead as planned.

Shamsollah Bahmaei, the spokesman for Majlis Energy Committee, said the Pakistani section of the pipeline that would carry natural gas from Iran would be constructed, NIGC revealed in a statement.

“The petroleum minister said the implementation of gas exports contract with Pakistan has no problem and this country should honor its obligations under the contract,” Bahmaei said.

Another lawmaker said the Pakistani government has shown willingness for importing Iran’s gas and has promised to build its own section of the pipeline.
