Iran Strikes Gas in Caspian Sea

Iran’s oil minister Rostam Qasemi announced that the country has discovered a huge natural-gas field in the Caspian Sea.

The ministry’s news website, quoted Rostam Qassemi as saying the field is located within the country’s maritime borders at a depth of 700 meters and contains an estimated 50 Tcf of gas.

He also said that the discovery of the gas reservoir in Caspian Sea, which is more complicated in comparison to those in the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea, was the result of several years’ efforts by the Iran’s oil industry’s experts.

Iran’s natural gas reserves are predominantly located offshore, although significant production does originate from onshore gas fields.
