Iran to add more gas pressure boosters by March 2016

Five gas pressure stations will become operational up to the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 2016) with the aim of boosting gas transfer capacity of the country.

Managing director of Iran Gas Engineering and Development Company Alireza Gharib said that launching of Khonj, Jahrom, Safashahr, Naeen and Kashan gas pressure boosting stations across the route of Iran Gas Trunkline-8 (IGAT-8) are among the priorities of NIGC this year, NIGC informed in a statement.

Gharibi noted that all the required equipment of gas pressure stations has been already procured and the related contractors have started construction of the stations.

The 56 inches diameter IGAT-8 gas pipeline with more than 1.000 km length transfers 110 million cubic meters of gas from South Pars gas field to the central parts of the country on a daily basis.

In an earlier statement, managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company Hamidreza Araqi told that completion of IGAT-6 and IGAT-9, as well as gas pressure stations, lie along the IGAT-8 route were among the priorities of the company this year.

Last year NIGC managed to complete IGAT-10 and several boosting gas pressure stations.
