Total Gas Production Reaches 120 Bcm

Total gas production has hit 120 billion cubic meters since the beginning of new Iranian calendar year on 20 March 2012.

Manager of dispatching department at National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Hasan Montazer Torbati, made the remarks adding gas production stands at 550 to 600 million cubic meters per day now.

He continued that cold weather had raised daily gas consumption in recent days by 50 million cubic meters per day.

Stating that residential sector’s daily gas consumption has hit 410 million cubic meters, Torbati predicted gas consumption by the sector to rise by 30 million cubic meters.

“Management of gas consumption by people will help NIGC to provide better services to consumers”, the official noted.

On meeting fuel needs of power plants, the NIGC official noted power plants had consumed more than 35 billion cubic meters of gas since the beginning of this year while industrial sector’s gas consumption has hit 22.5 billion cubic meters, up by more than one billion cubic meters in each sector in comparison to the similar period last year.

He described CNG supply to transportation sector desirable adding CNG consumption stands at 18 to 20 million cubic meters per day equivalent to about 20 million liters of gasoline.

On gas exports to Turkey, Torbati said NIGC exports maximum 30 million cubic meters of gas per day to Turkey under the related contract between the two countries.
