Iran, Turkmenistan Boost Gas Cooperation

Iran and Turkmenistan have reached agreement on boosting cooperation in oil and gas sector, deputy oil minister and managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Javad Owji announced.

Elaborating on results of his recent visit to Turkmenistan, he said: “Negotiations took place in the framework of previous contracts and fortunately, the results were completely satisfactory.

According to the report of the public relations of the NIGC, Owji said that gas import from Turkmenistan is a long-term contract and gas import from the country is going on.

He went on to say that; gas flow is underway from Turkmenistan to Iran.

Owji described his negotiations with Turkmen officials very constructive adding part of the negotiations were focused on expanding energy cooperation including participation of Iranian manufacturers in providing Turkmen needs to industrial equipment.

Turkmen Gas Company has confirmed quality and standards of Iranian made industrial equipment and the two sides have signed agreements on export of Iranian made oil and gas items to Turkmenistan.
