Jadestone wraps up Stag well drilling, prepares for production

Oil and gas production company Jadestone Energy has completed its infill drilling campaign at the Stag oil field located offshore Australia, which was the first well at the field in six years.

Ensco 107

Jadestone is a 100% owner and operator of the producing Stag oil field.

According to Jadestone’s statement said on Monday, May 13, drilling operations on the Stag 49-H infill well successfully concluded on May 6, 2019, and the completion has now been run.

Jadestone used the Ensco 107 jack-up rig for the Stag infill drilling program, which started in March 2019.

The rig has moved off location and is now off-hire.

The well was completed with sand screens and swell packers which take a few days to expand and set. The company will also conduct hook-up and commissioning activities and then put the well on production.

The company also noted that, based on the well data there is no anticipated variance to the pre-drill expectations for this well, which is targeting approximately 1.2mmbbls of 2P oil reserves.

It is worth reminding that the operations at the Stag oil field were briefly interrupted in late March due to severe weather conditions caused by tropical cyclone Veronica. Following the weakening of the cyclone Veronica in early April, Jadestone restarted drilling operations with the Ensco 107 jack-up rig on well 49-H.
