Jamaica: Six Bids Submitted for LNG Project

Jamaica’s government received 6 offers for the LNG import project, BNamericas reported.

The bidders were Shell International Trading Middle East, Pace Global, Marubeni, Morgan Stanley, Gas Natural Aprovisionamientos and Repsol Comercializadora de Gas.

Shortlisted companies will be informed by end of this year with a 2nd phase RFP expected to be released beginning next year, and a preferred bidder due to be decided on by mid-2012.

The LNG deal will be no less than 3 years and no greater than twenty years, with any proposed optional extension(s) five years or less.

The base contract plus extension(s) shall not exceed 25 years. Bidding process} also is underway to buy the floating LNG terminal.

The bidding process timeline is January 13 with a favoured bidder expected to be chosen by March 16.
