Jan De Nul Supplies Foundations for Formosa 1 Phase 2 OWF

Jan De Nul has signed a contract in Taiwan for the design, procurement and installation of the wind turbine foundations for the Phase 2 of the Formosa 1 offshore wind farm.

The wind farm is owned by Formosa Wind Power, a partnership of Macquarie Capital Group (50%), Ørsted (35%) and Swancor Renewable Energy (15%).

Jan de Nul’s scope of work will also include scour protection and cable installation.

The second phase will add 20 offshore wind turbines with a total capacity of 120MW to Formosa 1’s current 8MW capacity.

Peter De Pooter, manager Offshore Renewables at Jan De Nul said: “We are happy to be part of this new turn in Taiwan’s power generation strategy. Another ground breaking presence of Jan De Nul in Asia.”

Formosa 1, located off the coast of Chunan Town, Miaoli County, in North-West Taiwan, will be the first commercial-scale offshore wind farm in Taiwan before 2020.

Construction work will be completed in 2019.
