Japan: LNG Imports Climb in June

Japan’s LNG imports reached 6.65 million tonnes in June, a rise of 6.7 percent compared to a year earlier, according to data released today by the finance ministry.

The average LNG import price for Japan was $17.277/mmBtu in June.

Japan imported 44.6 million tons of LNG in the first six months of this year, a rise of 18.6 percent compared to the same period last year.

The country’s monthly LNG imports have been rising steadily year on year, due to the devastating earthquake and tsunami in March 2011.
