Japan: November spot LNG price down

Japan’s price of spot liquefied natural gas contracted in November averaged $7.4 per mmBtu on DES basis, down 2.6 percent from $7.6 per mmBtu in October.

According to the monthly spot LNG data by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the average price of spot-LNG imported into Japan that arrived in November dropped 5 percent to $7.5 per mmBtu, as compared to $7.9 per mmBtu in October.

The average LNG price for cargoes arriving last month in Japan was also the lowest since METI started publishing these reports in March last year.

To remind, the average price of cargoes delivered in April last year to Japan was $18.3 per mmBtu, and $14.3 per mmBtu in November of 2014.

Only spot LNG cargoes are taken into account in this assessments, excluding short, medium and long-term contract cargoes, as well as those linked to a particular price index.
