Japan - NYK LNG Carrier Broog Receives Recognition for Reporting Seawater Temperatures

NYK LNG carrier Broog has been recognized by the commandant of the Japan Coast Guard for the long-term contribution that the ship has made by providing seawater temperatures to the Japan Coast Guard.

Every September 12, the commandant of the Japan Coast Guard recognizes individuals and organizations that have made contributions to marine information services. An awards ceremony was held at the commandant’s room in Tokyo and attended by NYK LNG Shipmanagement Ltd. president Hiroshi Yonezawa.

For many years, NYK has provided the Japan Coast Guard with seawater temperatures, thus contributing greatly to the understanding of oceanic conditions. The information is used by the Japan Coast Guard’s Hydrographic and Oceanographic Department, which is involved in a variety of marine research and information services, such as chart development and responses to marine environmental issues and disasters, including earthquakes. In previous year, NYK LNG carriers LNG Jamal and Echigo Maru have recognized for their contributions.

NYK is encouraged by this honor and will continue its contribution to better understand our maritime environment.
