Japan power companies boost LNG use in July

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) use by Japan’s power companies increased 5.3 percent in July year-on-year, the preliminary data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry shows.

The power companies consumed 4.93 million mt of LNG in July as compared to 4.68 million mt in the same month last year.

When compared to the month before, LNG usage by the power companies rose 32.5 percent.

LNG purchases by the power companies in July were at 4.52 million mt – showing a drop of 9.7 percent on year and an increase of 9.4 percent as compared to the previous month, the data shows.
