Japan power companies use less LNG in June

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) use by Japan’s power companies decreased 13.6 percent in June year-on-year, the preliminary data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry shows.

The power companies consumed 3.72 million mt of LNG in June as compared to 4.30 million mt in the same month last year.

When compared to the month before, LNG usage by the power companies rose 4.2 percent.

LNG purchases by the power companies in June were at 4.14 million mt – showing a drop of 3.4 percent on year and an increase of 3 percent as compared to the previous month, the data shows.
