Japan: Tepco’s February LNG imports rise

Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco) revealed its LNG imports in February stood at 2.02 million mt, 6.2 percent up on the 1.9 million mt in the same month the previous year. 

Tepco’s consumption of liquefied natural gas reached 1.82 million mt in February 2016, 9 percent down from 2 million mt during the same month in 2015, according to the Japanese utility’s fuel data.

In the period spanning from April 2015 to February 2016, Tepco imported 20.7 million mt and consumed 19.7 million mt of liquefied natural gas.

Tepco is Japan’s first importer of LNG and it imports the fuel from projects located in Brunei, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Qatar, Darwin, Oman, Russia and Papua New Guinea.
