Japan: Tokyo Electric March LNG Use Up 17.3 Percent YoY

Japan’s Tokyo Electric Power (TEPCO) burned  2,070,000 mt of LNG in March, up 17.3 percent on year.

TEPCO used 1,966,000 mt of LNG in February, up 24.3 percent on year.

Japan’s consumption of LNG surged in the aftermath of the March 11 earthquake.

Power companies account for two-thirds of total Japanese LNG imports.
