Japan: Utilities March LNG Usage Drops YoY

The ten regional electric power companies in Japan consumed 4.72 million tonnes of LNG in March, down 6.3 percent compared with the same month a year earlier, according to the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan (FEPC).

The power companies bought 5.027 million tonnes of LNG in March, down 9.1 percent on year.

The companies consumed a record 55.79 million tonnes equivalent of LNG in the previous fiscal year that ended in March.

Power companies account for two-thirds of total Japanese LNG imports.
