Japan: Utilities Oct LNG Usage at 4.62 Million Tonnes

The ten regional electric power companies in Japan consumed 4.62 million tonnes of LNG in October, up 8.4 percent compared to October of 2012, according to the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan (FEPC).

The power companies bought 5.06 million tonnes of LNG in October, compared with 4.48 million tonnes the companies bought in October of 2012.

The companies consumed a record 55.79 million tonnes equivalent of LNG in the previous fiscal year that ended in March.

Power companies account for two-thirds of total Japanese LNG imports.
